A tad over-exposed. I can see the vision but there is too much going on in the picture and my eye does not rest at any one place. Maybe, crop the sky out and use some vignetting to darken a bit of the sides to place focus on the subject. P.S : I really enjoy your posts. Gives me a good glimpse into South East Asia.

Sid,Thank you for the comment. I’m fairly new to photography (at least in the creative sense) and really need this type of feedback from other experienced photographers. I’m trying to use this blog to push myself to experiment with a lot of different types of shots, rather than just fall in the mode of taking similar ones over and over. Any resources you could point me to (books, photography blogs, etc.) are much appreciated!Brie

Hi Brie, the photo a day is a great place to start. It forces you to take more photos. My first book was this and it is fantastic. http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Exposure-3rd-Photographs-Camera/dp/0817439390.You just discover photography blogs as you keep browsing. One of my favourites is http://www.digital-photography-school.com/.

Sid,I read Understand Exposure a couple months back when I first got my camera. It was fantastic. I think I might give it a re-read now that I’m more familiar with my camera’s controls. I’ve also seen that he has other books, some of which deal with composition. Have you read any of those? Thanks for the blog link – I’ll check that one out.Brie
